About the band and the blog

TranotraScandinavian Folk Leaning Forward

The Nordic folk music have always been known for its unique sound image. From its countries’ traditions, the Nordic Tone unfolds in this new quartet, and creates space for pensiveness and wild temper.

Tranotra is a clash between musicians from the four Scandinavian countries with a vision to share their common interest in the nordic sound. With respect for tradition, they guide the folk music into modern time.

With personal and direct arrangements Tranotra creates new acoustic frames for hard striking Springleiks, melancholic Polskas, optimistic Schottisches and groovy contemporary music which appeals both to the listening and the dancing souls.

The members are:
Benjamin Bøgelund Bech (DK): clarinets of various sizes
Olaug Furusæter (NO): fiddle
Sven Midgren (SWE): fiddles
Markus Räsänen (SWE/FI): accordeon
